RCA Students’ Union – RCAfe
The Royal College of Art Students’ Union is inviting proposals from RCA students and alumni to submit their work or ideas for events for consideration to be part of fifty six hours programme of events held in the Union’s RCafe, Kensington during ShowRCA 2016 this June and July.
fifty six hours is a public programme of debates, performances, objects, presentations, screenings, symposia and talks. Taking its name from the duration of the ShowRCA 2016, this event will offer audiences attending the graduate exhibition with an alternative approach to experiencing students’ practices.
It is often said that looking at topics through art and design research, paradoxically starts with answers and concludes with questions. Taking the four topics of display, education, radicalism and recreation as fundamental elements of student enquiry at the RCA, the aim of this programme is to provide contributors with an opportunity to experiment in the public domain. Contributors should see these proposed topics as means to further investigate and play with ideas in their work that contextualize, critique and expand upon ShowRCA 2016.
Students and alumni are invited to submit work in any medium, though they should consider the time-based nature of this event.
Please submit your name, an example of the work to be exhibited, and its specifications and subject here.
Following a deadline on Sunday 12 June 2016 at midnight, successful applicants will be contacted with further details no later than on Wednesday 15 June 2016.
