Did you know that as fully registered RCA student you can get 30% off the price of adult-rate Travelcards and Bus & Tram Pass season tickets?
All you need to do is to visit Transport for London website and apply there. To make it easier for you we have created a step-by-step guide below. Once you apply for the 18+ Student Oyster photocard and fully complete your registration process at the RCA, we, at the SU, will be able to approve your 18+ Student Oyster photocard application.
Continuing students should scroll down to the bottom of this page, to see some important information for them.
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE FIRST TIME
To apply for 18+ Student Oyster photocard, or access your account on the TfL website, please follow this link. You can apply at any time between 1 September 2016 and 31 July 2017. Unfortunately, we are only able to confirm your application once you fully complete the registration process at the RCA and we receive the list of registered students from the Registry.
If this is the first time you are applying, click ‘Create Web Account.’

In any doubt – your course should begin in September of the year you begin, and end on the 31 July of the year that you graduate.

A: We always aim to proceed with these as soon as possible, but unfortunately, it can take up to one month for us to receive the list of all registered students. If 28 days have passed since you fully registered and applied for 18+ Student Oyster photocard please do email to firstname.lastname@example.org, subject line ‘Delayed Oyster’.
Q: How often does RCA SU confirm 18+ Student Oyster photocard applications?
A: We aim to confirm these once a week, usually on Thursday.
INFORMATION FOR CONTINUING STUDENTS
Transport for London requires that the Students’ Union have to report to them in November 2015 to ensure that only fully registered students retain the travel concession. As a result, continuing students who have not completed the registration process at the RCA by the 31st of October 2016 will have their 18+ Student Oyster photocard stopped by Transport for London within the weeks following.
If you only complete the registration process at the RCA after 31st of October 2016, you will have to re-apply for the 18+ Students Oyster Card via the TfL website and be required to pay a £20 fee.
