SustainLabRCA Society Open Call: Ancestral Utopias

SustainLab’s annual exhibition returns, and this year’s Open Call invites RCA students to respond to the theme Ancestral Utopias.

Ancestral Utopias explores themes of ecological slow violence, ancestral knowledge, generational thinking, and long-term strategies for addressing the climate crisis.

We invite students from all RCA programmes to imagine what collectively-driven, slow healing for the planet might look, feel, smell, taste, and sound like. We encourage broad and deep explorations of this theme through any medium, whether artistic, design-focused, or research-oriented.

Both individual and collaborative applications are welcome. One work/project per application.

Applications are open to all current RCA students. Submissions will be reviewed after the deadline, and the exhibition is scheduled to take place at the end of April–May 2025
